From combat soldiers with angel wings to gorilla QEII, Banksy pushes boundaries and makes us think about the issues in today’s world–with a smirk on his face and a gangsta tag.
He calls out hypocrisy from our so-called leaders in a world of war, terrorism, genocide, rampant greed, neoliberal capitalism, the exploitation of workers, developing countries, the poor, and pretty much everyone else by our billionaire overlords who control the world’s wealth and own our politicians.
The current exhibition at Docklands, Melbourne is well worth a visit. Then, when you’re overwhelmed with anti-war, pro-environment, anti-US art, his mocking of the royals, the establishment, and the military industrial complex, exit through the gift shop where you can stencil your own Banksy souvenir tshirt.
